During the world-shifting years between 2000 and 2023/24, I decided to repackage my creative spirit from writing to making art. You see, I loved words years before I could read them. My earliest memories were of a home environment filled with art. And a mom who made all kinds of art and taught art to children. For me, words and art and love are interwined.
I began collecting other artists' work as soon as I learned how to borrow money from my dad. I still have the first piece of pottery I ever bought, and I remain entranced by it. That is one of art's many powers.
That and what it can inspire (and let you feel and remember and think and wonder and imagine.) What inspires me is paying attention. To trees and clouds. Gardens and flowers. Words and glances. Interior design and buildings. Archways and stone paths. Thoughts and emotions. Textiles and glasswork. My interior and exterior.
Before I started making art, I worked in diverse fields such as international relations, architecture, and public health. By some magical combination, they opened a path to the present.
Becoming an artist has allowed my imagination, a sense of play, and a longing for new experiences to flourish. Creating art has become a new source of joy. It is one of the best parts of my life.
My website of original art at bbdcreatives.com will be launched soon. (You can take a peek now, though.) You'll see my work, each with their own special story. You can join my email list. Write me a note. And of course, I would be honored if you purchased my creations.
